How to lose 4 lbs in 1 day

Get the flu.

I think I prefer running. Takes a lot more time but is MUCH less painful! Probably more permanent, too. :)

I seem to be getting sick a lot recently. Colds abound in our house, and I seem to get the worst ones. I had a nasty bout of mastitis and a second, less awful occurence two weeks later. Now the flu. On top of the frequency, it seems to take an unreasonable amount of time for me to "bounce back" and get back to feeling normal.

Is this just a fact of never enough and interrupted sleep and three small ones? Any ideas for staying healthy?

Feel better soon! I'm sure lack of sleep has alot to do with it..I heard eating garlic boosts your immunity ?

Don't eat ANYTHING with sugar, and sleep as much as possible (if you can!) :)

Move into a bubble. :-)

Um, but seriously... I find a healthy diet with minimal sugar to be my best way of beating the colds. I also like to drink one of those Emergen-C powdered drink mixes (I buy them at Trader Joe's) whenever I feel like I might be coming down with something or I know I've been exposed.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Oh, I'm so sorry! I hope you get feeling better.

Amie is right about garlic. Not only is it a good immune booster, but in it's raw form, it is also produces a broad-spectrum antibiotic.

For mastitis, I coarsely chop a clove of garlic, and just swallow it like a pile of pills, several times a day. In my experience, the larger the chunks, the better it works, but the more likely I am to give myself heartburn. For colds and sore throats I also whizz a few cloves of garlic in the blender with strawberries and vanilla yogurt--it doesn't taste nearly as bad as it sounds. The kids think it's ice cream.

A word of warning, though--as with other antibiotics, raw garlic (particularly if swallowed without chewing or crushing) can kill off the beneficial bacteria, too, leaving you at risk for thrush. However, since it also kills fungi, you aren't at risk while you're still taking the raw garlic, but you do need to follow up with probiotics, as I've learned from miserable experience.

Thank God for garlic.

I'm sorry your still sick, feel better! as to not getting sick in the first place, one of my vitamins has super good reputation, it's called system well(mom gets it from swansons i think) but we got it the first time from Clarks in Loma Linda and the lady there who recommended it to us knows pretty much all there is to know about vitamins. She said that people have told her once they started taking it they didn't get sick more than once a year. Now, it hasn't been quite that wonderful for me, but when I DO get sick, its much less severe(leaves me functional anyway) and the duration is much shorter. Also, Zicam(but stay away from their nose swabs and the spray, because those particular forms have been known to cause loss of taste/smell) the lozenges are fine however, and if you take it like they say, it really does knock out whatever it is you have. :)
