Teething

I was expecting Jonathan's first tooth long before now. Ten months is definitely later than average - though I'm not complaining! Nursing without teeth is much less worrisome than nursing with teeth! :) I wonder, now, if a bunch of his teeth will come in at once, to make up for lost time?

Anyway, does anyone have any amazing and wonderful ideas for how to make this teething time easier for our little one? The past few days have really been pretty miserable for him.

Lucy was a late bloomer too. Then, when she was 15 months old, she got 8 teeth in one month. That was lots of fun.(: My kids both reject the traditional teething relievers (iced rings, etc). So, I just say tyenol and lots of hugs are the best way to get through it (and patience on our part!)

Jonathan doesn't seem to like traditional teething helps either. In fact, the only one he seemed to like belonged to a friend - one of the teething toys that vibrates when bitten. It's more expensive than I usually pay for toys of that sort, but I'm starting to think it might be a good investment!

I am using tylenol, which does seem to help. And hugs, and hugs, and hugs, and hugs. The hardest thing is when the hugs don't help. :(

The vibrating teethers are definitely worth the money. I was able to get some winnie-the-pooh honey pot shaped ones at Big Lots for 2 bucks. Not quite as effective as the 12 dollar star-shaped one with all the great textures, though. Either way, quite a sanity saver.

Hyland's Teething Tablets could help him. Just be sure to follow the directions and keep giving him the tablets so that the soothing effects have a chance to kick in. {{hugs}}
