Suggestions needed!

I am trying to find a water bottle for Jonathan. He's getting too old for sippy cups, but obviously regular cups don't work well in the car! I'm looking for something that is:

1) BPA free
2) Smaller than usual (maybe about 12-16 oz)
3) Does not have a "sippy" lid (Nalgene's Grip n Gulp is not what I want)
4) Will not leak
5) Dishwasher safe
6) Pretty much indestructible :)

Any ideas for me?

What about this:

We are going to REI in the next few days so if you want us to pick one up for you let me know. I might get them for my kids.

Also- the cool one that Amie was using is by Foogo.

I've heard good things about SIGG bottles. (just google)

OK Ashley already told you my preference but I had to chime in too. I love love love the foogo cup we have. They don't leak at all and are toddler friendly. They also keep drinks cold up to 12 hours, a plus in Southern Cali heats. Can't say enough about them. I got them at walmart (you can order online and have them shipped to a store near you). Be sure to review whatever product you choose!

At this point I'm leaning toward the Foogo straw bottle. But I can't find them in stock ANYWHERE!! For some reason Walmart won't do a ship-to-store on this item in my area, Amie, and none of the local Walmarts have any in stock. Neither do Targets. Apparently they are really popular?

Jess, I've heard good things about SIGG, too, and those were the first ones I looked into. I ran into similar trouble actually finding them in stock (anywhere - even online) and there is also some concern about aluminum leaching...who knows what to believe! My other hesitation for the SIGG bottle is that it definitely isn't indestructible. Normal wear and tear on those things makes them start looking banged up pretty fast.

Ashley, thanks for the links!

So here's an engineer's perspective - given without any research, so you might want to ignore it. Most aluminum water bottles are probably not made with the highest grade of aluminum, and a lot of aluminum alloys tend to be pretty "rough". If you really want a much safer alternative as far as leaching goes, I'd look for stainless steel. You want a stainless alloy with a low nickle content - that's the one thing I could think of that might leach out of a stainless alloy. Maybe something like https://www.ecocanteen.com/flare/next?tag=Gstainless ?

...I don't know...

I have an earthlust bottle I love (I believe it might be stainless steal). I have the giant size, but they also have smaller sizes, though I'm not sure if they're for kids or not.

I have SIGG for my kids and really like them. The plastic lid does crack if dropped, but isn't really necessary since it is the turning of the spout that keeps the bottle from leaking, not the lid. I haven't had any problems with them getting banged up looking. But then, I also have the philosophy that re-useable water bottles of any type should be replaced every 6 months or so. We also only use the bottle when we are out of the house. Indoors, the kids sit at the table and drink out of cups.

Also, the girls think these water bottles are very special and take good care of them. They got to pick the design on theirs and that was a really big deal to them.
