Self-aware toddler

Mid-morning, I was trying to decide what we'd do next. Go out to the park and/or the library? Stay home and have quiet time first? Josiah made that decision really easy when he picked up his blanket, held up his arms for a hug, and said "Mama, need nap."

Yes, he's sleeping now. This little two year old really does have the most amazing grasp of his own sleep needs. Instead of getting cranky and waiting for me to figure out what he needs, he just tells me!

(Lest other mothers start getting jealous, I should mention that my other children do not have this skill.) :)

We also have one who likes to put herself to bed. And we're trying to enjoy it, because we figure any future kid(s) will never ever sleep :)

That sounds absolutely lovely. I am one of the unlucky mothers whose children gave up naps before they were two. I remember when Lucy did, my mom saying, "You only just ever have one of those." But I've had three. Fourth times a charm?

Can he come here and teach that to Matthew? :)

Well now, Jen and Todd...he most certainly didn't know how to do this when he was two MONTHS old. :) I think you'll probably have to wait it out just like the rest of us!
